NBA Ballet Competition 2015

NBA COMPETITION, FUKUOKA

The National Ballet Association (NBA) Competition is a prestigious ballet competition which awards annual scholarships to leading dance schools worldwide. Launched 1993 by Artistic Director Koichi Kubo, who was a principal dancer with the Colorado Ballet, and with the support of the NPO NBA Ballet and the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the competition is held annually in several prefectures in Japan with the final being held in Tokyo.

The NBA Junior Ballet Competition is open to dance students of all nationalities from 9 to 20 years of age. The competition has a long history of producing winners who have gone on to achieve world recognition on international platforms. The main participants of the competition are Japanese, and the pre-finals stages in January 2015 saw more than 1350 competitors taking part.

Cheng Ballet Academy qualified to participate in the finals held on August 4 to 5 in Fukuoka and is happy and grateful to announce 7 winners of 1st to 5th prize in various categories.

In addition, Artistic Director, Mr Cheng Hsienfa, was awarded the Best Teacher Award by the jury.

Our winners of the 4th prize and above will be proceeding on to the grand finals in Tokyo come January, 2016.

JAPAN BALLET COMPETITION, FUKUOKA

Japan Ballet Competition 2015Just before the commencement of the NBA Competition in Fukuoka, the entourage of 8 junior dances also participated in the Japan Ballet Competition which debuted this year in Fukuoka.

The competition saw all our dancers taking part in every category including modern ballet, ensemble and solos.

The academy is proud and humbled to not only receive prizes from the 6th position all the way to the 1st position for all the categories, it also gratefully accepts the jury prize of The Best Coach Award on behalf of Artistic Director, Mr Cheng Hsienfa. Lastly, the 5 awardees of the various exchange programs to The State Ballet School of Berlin, the USA International Workshop and the Paul Julius Workshop in Yokohama are all excited and happy to be a part of this inaugural competition.
