NBA Tokyo 2015

In January 2015, 8 students from Cheng Ballet Academy took part in the 8-day NBA Tokyo Ballet Competition. It was a challenging journey as the students had to make physical adjustments from Singapore's tropical climate to Japan's midwinter cold.

The NBA Ballet Competition was inaugurated in 1993 by Japan Ballet Academy. Many of the competition's award winners are now training in the Vienna State Opera Ballet School and the original Kirov Ballet School in Washington DC. It has also produced winners at the famous Prix de Lausanne competition every year.

Cheng Ballet Academy first participated in the NBA Competition in January 2014. This year, five junior high school students, two elementary school children and one high school student, participated in theTokyo rendition held from January 3 to 8, 2015. Competition results were fruitul with a 3rd and 6th places in the contemporary division, 4th placing in the elementary ballet division as well as 4 Honorable Mention Awards.

The students of Cheng Ballet Academy have benefitted greatly from participating in this competition and we wish to extend our thanks and appreciation to all family members, friends and supporters for their commitment, hard work and efforts. Special thanks and appreciation as well to ballet studio and teachers at STAGE YOU who were ever so gracious, supportive and warm in hosting our visit there.
